I am greatly honored that I was selected to earn a distinguished 506th scholarship. The time my dad spent as a part of the historic Currahees, at Fort Campbell and in South Korea, is an important part of our family that we all take great pride in. I began my educational career as a preschooler while my dad served with 506th at Fort Campbell and because of the 506th Infantry Regiment Association’s generosity, I will be able to continue my educational aspirations at Hanover College and ultimately earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy, while also realizing my dream of playing college football. I would also like to thank my dad for his honorable service and the sacrifices he made to serve our country.

Sincerely,

The following letter is from Daniel:

Dear 506th Scholarship Committee,

First and foremost, I would like to thank the 506th Infantry Regiment Association. I am extremely humbled and honored to have been selected as a 2021 scholarship recipient. My time in the 506th made me into the man I am today, forging my attitudes of endurance during the hard times and learning to do whatever it takes to have your buddy’s back. The funds will greatly assist my graduate studies in Maritime Studies and Underwater Archaeology at East Carolina University. While at ECU I will work with The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency to help try to bring home MIA servicemen, of which there are many thousands still missing. A vast majority of those MIA were lost at sea, where I plan to use my learned skills in maritime archaeology to assist in the recovery of their remains to bring them home for the respect, honor, and remembrance that they deserve.

Currahee!
