1st Battalion, 506th Infantry
NOTE: on June 27, 1968, the 101st Airborne Division had been redesignated the 101st Air Cavalry Division. However, this terminology was withdrawn on August 26, 1968, and the new designation established as the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile).

3rd Bde Skirmish Kills 64
June 21, 1968: A Company had 4 killed and 5 wounded. C Company had 5 killed and 18 wounded.
Tries New Methods | No Time |
Suicide Assault Falters C Company operating at less than 100 men (I believe at 90). We had 6 killed and 38 wounded. Later a captured VC told that they had 3 companies wiped out, and they showed E Company a mass grave with 140 bodies. Scammon was Platoon Leader. I think Jim Nixon was Squad Leader at the time, and I was Fire Team Leader. |
